SportsMen and their Fascination Over Basketball
From a simple mission of finding a new sport to keep students physically fit and active, basketball was created. Originated in 1891 and was introduced to Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) by Canadian clergyman, educator, and physician James Naismith. And since them it took the country by storm ultimately becoming a game for men. What made a seemingly simple game of shooting a ball to the enemy's side so phenomenal and popular amongst men? From our toddler years, a ball is already introduced to young boys as a toy. From then on you can choose multiple paths of pursuing a fascination towards a game concerning a ball, or just completely disregard it if one doesn't grows up to be a sports buff. As a growing young boy if you don't know how to play the game you'll be left out. Basketball has been promoted to be the ultimate sports game for boys to men. Just look at most decent grade school to universities, there will always be one specific part of the gym or the campus designated for Basketball and this adds up to the pressure that if you are a guy and don't know how to play basketball, then you're not a guy at all. Men consider Basketball as their game for a couple of reasons. It is a contact sport where men can show their masculinity and superiority in terms of speed, tactics, stamina, strength, and dexterity, something that are not normally seen on women. Its creation was also intended for men but would later be available for women. The most successful testament to women playing basketball is the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) where it breaks all notion that basketball is a sport only for men. It is really worthy of admiration on how one can accurately shoot a ball from great distances, maneuver over two to three players guarding the basket and successfully making a shot, or winning over great overwhelming odds in the end. The fame and popularity of belonging to a winning basketball team also adds up as to why men like it so much. People love being adored, idolized and approved by the public and that is what basketball provides. You can talk about...
